Butterfly Hotels Ltd has owned and operated hotels since 1988.
The company is owned and operated by Nilesh Gangadia - a chartered accountant by training who specialised in tax before joining a hotel company in the mid 80’s and Clive Nicholls who is a college trained hotelier. Clive has been operating hotels since 1970 and was with Crest Hotels before becoming an owner operator.
Operates branded hotels where possible under franchise agreements. Current brands include: Ramada Hotels, Days Hotel, Holiday Inn Express and Best Western. The company currently has 10 hotels within the portfolio.
A specialist hotel management company which has management contract for hotels, operating them on behalf of owners, property companies and other institutions.
The company has operated 350 bedroom 4 star hotels with full leisure facilities, to smaller 35 bedroom hotels.
Our hotels are profitable - operating at industry KPI’s. Payroll costs are generally 17% in the budget hotels to 28% in the full.
Service, with food and liquor costs at 28%.

Allan Hall – Group Accountant
Allan and a team of 5 accounts staff manage the accounting function for Butterfly Hotels Management Ltd and such duties involve cash flows and Sage accounts linking to Excel period management accounts. The accounting package being used was developed by BDO Stoy Hayward.
Daniela Elstone – Group Sales Manager
Previously worked at Forte hotels and latterly at Travelodge. She has brought with her a wealth of sales and revenue generating experience. She is highly skilled at putting hotels on the map through agents and internet sites. Especially skilled at Google marketing.
Bruce Rowell – Group Senior General Manager – Full Service Hotels
A highly experienced GM having operated 4 star hotels with up to 350 rooms with full leisure and treatment rooms. Bruce was at The George at Stamford for many years where he acquired 5 star dining and wine skills.
Clive Nicholls
Operated hotels in administration for the accountants BDO Stoy Hayward (London office - Geoff Kinlan and Peter Copp) and the Bristol Office, Deloittes (London Office – Nick Dargan) and Arthur Andersen for 5 years in the early and mid 90’s. Taplow House Hotel, Maidenhead was operated for 3 years for BDO and Lloyds bank as the sale value was too low. Business was built back up and the hotel sale value was increased by £1.0m. Shrigley Hall, near Manchester was operated on a short term basis for BDO. A new General Manager was appointed, business was realigned and turnover/profit was boosted, thus allowing the bank a quick exit with full value. Avon Inns - a group of 13 hotels and inns in the Bath area. The group was operated for a number of years – again improving the sales through promotions, reducing costs through better purchasing and then allowing the bank and Arthur Andersen to sell them. Operated approximately 40 hotels on behalf of administrative receivers from Edinburgh to Swansea and Folkestone .
Operation
We have an excellent range of national suppliers – Matthew Clark , Brakes, 3663, Sunlight Laundry, BOC, Russell Hume (meat suppliers ) M&J Seafoods and other major hospitality suppliers. These suppliers can be relied on to instantly supply our hotels at our very competitive group prices. We currently purchase in excess of £500,000 from our larger suppliers which has enabled us to negotiate the best prices. We regularly benchmark our prices against our competitors to ensure that we are obtaining the best deals.
